How to Factory Reset Your Ring Alarm Devices

If you ever get stuck while troubleshooting your Ring Alarm and need to factory reset any of them (as a last resort), you can use the below:

Factory Reset your Base Station:

Do not attempt to factory reset your Ring Alarm Base Station without guidance and support from a trained Ring Customer Support expert. Please contact Customer Support for assistance if you’re having difficulty with your Ring Alarm.

Factory Reset your First Alert Smoke & CO Detector

If the device is powered up with the test button held down for 10+ seconds, the device will reset all Z-Wave settings and leave the network. Note: The device will not remain awake after resetting and will go into standby mode.

Factory Reset your Flood & Freeze Sensor

Press and hold the setup button (located inside the device) with the battery in, until the LED stops flashing (approximately 10 seconds).

Factory Reset your Panic Button

Press and hold the setup button (located on the side of the device) with the battery in, until the LED stops flashing (approximately 10 seconds)

Factory Reset your Dome Siren

Press and hold the Button (located on the side of the device) for 10 seconds until the LED Ring blinks once, then release the button.

Factory Reset your Smoke & CO Listener1

Press and hold the Setup button for about 10 seconds. When the LED stops blinking, your Listener1 has reset.

For all Contact Sensor troubleshooting, make sure the sensor is within 3-5 feet from your Ring Alarm Base Station.

Reconnecting your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (1st Generation)

If your Contact Sensor (1st Gen) is losing or has an unstable connection, you can try moving it closer to the Alarm Base Station or add a Range Extender between the Contact Sensor and Base Station. If you’re still experiencing connectivity issues:

1.Remove the cover from the device, and remove the battery.
2.Wait a few seconds and then reinsert the battery.
◦ One LED light flash:

Contact Sensor is in-network.

◦ Three LED light blinks:

Contact Sensor is out of network.

1.Remove the cover from the device.
2.Remove the battery from the device.
3.Press and hold the tamper button (found near the antenna).
4.Insert the battery while holding the tamper button. The LED light will flash. Hold the button until the LED light stops flashing, OR until you see a solid LED light.
5.Put the cover back on the device.

between the Contact Sensor and the Base Station. The Range Extender helps extend and expand the Base Station’s Z-Wave network, allowing for greater range and signal strength for all compatible devices at your location.

• Briefly press the button on the front of the device.
• Three green blinks:

The Contact Sensor is ready to connect to the Base Station.

• Single green blink:

The Contact Sensor is connected and communicating with your Base Station.

• Single red blink:

The process of removing your coin cell batteries may differ depending on the type of Contact Sensor (2nd Generation) you’re using. You may need to use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the battery security plate. You may need to use a small tool, such as a micro screwdriver, to carefully remove the batteries from their casing.

Always insert replacement batteries correctly, matching the + (positive) and – (negative) symbols on the battery with the symbols on your Contact Sensor.

If you’ve tried all of the above steps and are still having difficulty with your Contact Sensor, you may need to perform a factory reset on this device. There are a few reasons why a factory reset might be necessary:

• The Contact Sensor is still waiting or attempting to connect to the Ring app.
• The Ring app is prompting you to perform a factory reset.

To perform a factory reset:

1.Slide the Contact Sensor off its base. Ensure that the batteries are installed and that you are within three to five feet of the Base Station.
2.Use a pin, paperclip, or sim card ejector to press and hold the pinhole reset button.
3.After the LED light turns off, release the reset button.
4.Re-add the Contact Sensor to your Ring Alarm using the Ring app.

While repeating the setup process, when you’re prompted to pull the battery tab you may have to use a small tool, such as a micro screwdriver, to carefully remove the coin cell batteries from the casing of your Contact Sensor, then reinsert them.

The light patterns on your Motion Detector will help you identify if it’s working well, or if there’s something wrong. When you press and hold the button on the front of the Motion Detector, you may see:

• Single green flash

: Communication is successful. It’s working.

• Single red flash

: Communication is unsuccessful, but the Motion Detector is still on your network.

• Three green flashes

: The Motion Detector is not connected to your Ring Alarm network.

Range Extender features

The Range Extender can be placed up to 250 feet from the Base Station. It will reach Alarm devices up to 250 feet away, in an unobstructed environment. Coverage may vary depending on the layout and construction of your home or business.

In the event of a power outage, the Range Extender has a backup battery that lasts up to 24 hours.

Where should I install my Range Extender?

Choose an outlet between your Base Station and the Ring Alarm security devices farthest from your Base Station. You can move the Range Extender to another outlet as needed to improve signal strength and to expand the range of your Z-Wave network.

Before installing the Range Extender, make sure your Ring Alarm is disarmed. To install the Range Extender:
